pre-alpha"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My little experiment with in-game grid systems is coming along nicely.\u00a0 It&#8217;s now an actual game, with actual gameplay.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s a feature list of things already implemented:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Audio<\/strong>: combat sound FX, voiceover audio clips, and original background music (edited clip of <a href=\"https:\/\/soundcloud.com\/arcanor\/electric-strut?in=arcanor\/sets\/cerulean-sojourn-album\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><em>Electric Strut<\/em><\/span><\/a>)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Gameplay<\/strong>: increasing level of difficulty as you complete each level<\/li>\n<li><strong>UI screens<\/strong>: splash, welcome, settings, play, level complete, game over<\/li>\n<li><strong>debris<\/strong> rocks (allow for more tactical choices during play)<\/li>\n<li>simple RPG <strong>storyline<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I&#8217;ve got a plan for further development, but I&#8217;m not sure how far I want to take it.\u00a0 Here is a short list of prospective game features that are not yet implemented:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>ability to <strong>pause<\/strong> for a turn (and let the bugs move)<\/li>\n<li>add more <strong>debris<\/strong> types (small trees\/bushes, possibly multi-cell debris)<\/li>\n<li>add <strong>consumables<\/strong>, like health potions, speed potions, pesticide refills, etc., that can be found randomly in the grid, along with new UI elements to see how many you&#8217;ve got of each, and new keyboard\/mouse commands to consume the items<\/li>\n<li>add <strong>gold loot<\/strong> to the cell after an insect is killed, and a whole new shop\/inventory screen to spend your gold and upgrade your weapons and armor\/clothing<\/li>\n<li>randomized <strong>rogue-like multi-room levels<\/strong>, including a <strong>down staircase<\/strong> in one room, so you can further invade the monsters&#8217;
